OyeLyre — Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

OyeLyre is a voice-first music app built by MotherParrot Technologies Private Limited, a company based in Bengaluru, India. You can reach us at davidarunsathish@motherparrot.com.

2. What We Collect

We collect the minimum necessary to make the app work:

• Voice audio — only when you actively tap the mic button. Audio is sent to Sarvam AI for transcription and deleted immediately after. We never store voice recordings.
• Your search queries — the text of what you searched, stored locally on your device only, to power your history and favourites. Never sent to our servers.
• Play history and favourites — stored locally on your device only. We don't sync this to any cloud.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

• Your real name, phone number, or email address
• Your location
• Your Aadhaar, PAN, or any government ID
• Payment information
• Any data about other apps on your device
• Persistent voice recordings of any kind

4. Third-Party Services We Use

OyeLyre uses a small number of trusted third-party services to function:

• Sarvam AI (sarvam.ai) — converts your voice to text. Your audio is processed on their servers and not retained beyond the duration of the transcription request. See Sarvam's privacy policy.
• Anthropic Claude API — helps understand your music search intent from the transcribed text. Only the text query is sent, never your voice. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• YouTube — used to search for and stream music. Your searches may be subject to Google's privacy policy.

5. Microphone Permission

OyeLyre requests microphone access only to enable voice search. The microphone is active only when you tap the mic button — never in the background, never passively listening. You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your device settings, though this will disable voice search functionality.

6. Children's Privacy

OyeLyre is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data Security

All communication between OyeLyre and third-party services uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Local data on your device is protected by your device's own security features.

8. Your Data Lives on Your Device

Since we don't collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing to delete or export from our end. Your history and favourites live only on your device — you can clear them at any time from within the app settings.

Because everything is stored locally, your history and favourites stay on this device only. If you switch to a new phone or reinstall the app, this data won't carry over — you'll start fresh. We're working on an optional backup feature for a future update.

9. Changes to This Policy

We'll update this page if our practices change. The date at the top will always reflect when it was last revised. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
